Over-the-shoulder, detailed lessons of a classic uke song, showing you the tips, tricks, and thought process to work out a great arrangement.

The Golden Age of Ukulele Sheet Music

In the 1920s and 30s, the ukulele was hugely popular, and world-class songwriters were composing with the uke in mind. Much of the wonderful old sheet music includes uke-friendly arrangement.

That's not enough to avoid “simple strumming syndrome”– the default of most ukulele players.

Think about it: one song strummed on the ukulele sounds pretty much like another song strummed on the ukulele.

Our job:

What can we bring to these songs to make them sound more musical, more like the songs?

In each video lesson, I walk you step-by-step through the thought process I use to analyze a song, to work out melody lines, and to add stops, strums, and tricks to make the song sound as good as it can. — You'll be able to apply as much or as little technique as your current skill level permits (and you'll be building up your skill level in the process!).

How it works:

You are a buying a six-month workshop. New lesson videos are released to you one per month. This allows you plenty of time to seriously work on each one, and allows me time to assist and to create new content.

You can pay-as-you-go or save money by paying up-front.

What you're getting:

Each monthly lesson focuses on a single song from the Golden Age of Ukulele. On video, I demonstrate how the songs sound, and then together we walk-through the song and find points of interest, trouble spots, and explore techniques you can apply to make a little magic when you play the song yourself.

Lessons are 20-40 minutes, and broken into manageable lengths so it's easier to keep track of where you are (and go back to review).

PDF Download of the Original Sheet Music is Included with Each Lesson

Your subscription is $19.95 (“Cheap,” as MAD Magazine used to say — especially when you compare to the price of live lessons with this much detail), and is billed monthly for six months, or until you cancel, whichever comes first.

Current Song Lessons:

  1. Are You Lonesome Tonight (yes, the same one Elvis covered, but the original, from 1927)
  2. The Blue Room
  3. That's My Weakness Now
  4. Walkin' My Baby Back Home
  5. Singin' in the Bathtub
  6. Me and the Man in the Moon

What's next? Why don't YOU decide! I'm always happy to take your requests 🙂

If you'd rather not have a monthly payment, you can save by paying up front for the whole six-month program. Instead of $19.95 x 6 months ($119.70), you can pay up front for just $97.

This program is also available as part of the Uke Course Master Pass — a great way to get on-going access to all the uke courses at a great savings (see below).

Here's what's included — and the prices you WON'T pay!
